‍ ‍ Drypoint Printmaking

  • Learning basics of Intaglio printmaking by creating drypoint plates on card and plastic.

  • Learning using printing press, paper preparation and inking up for intaglio.

  • Learning tonal values depending on substrate used.

  • Learning how to add colour to drypoint plates using chine colle and ala poupe technique.

DAY 2

Basics of Collagraphy

  • Using principles learned on day 1, students will now understand the process of Intaglio. This will help in creating Collagraph plates, which are cardboard based plates with marks made by drypoint techniques as well as textures achieved with gels and pastes and textured papers/fabrics.

  • Once the collagraph plates are dry, students will learn how to print them in black and white as well as in colour. Colour can be achieved by chine colle, a la poupe inking or multiplate approach.

DAY 3

Tetrapak

  • Using recycled materials students will create Tetrapak plates using collagraph techniques on day 2.

  • Students will print their Tetrapak plates in B&W, in colour and by adding chine colle

    DAY 4

    Carborundum Printmaking

  • Combining Carborundum with Drypoint and Collagraphs to create expressive prints in colour.

    DAY 5
    Monoprinting

  • Learning monoprinting using expressive brush strokes, masks and stencils.

  • Monoprinting fun on prints created during the week, to demonstrate how all printmaking techniques can be combined to achieve the impossible!
